What does it mean to be alive?

I had never been able to answer this question, until I started practicing mindfulness. As I learned to be more aware of myself and the way I lived, I realized how often I had just allowed moment after moment to pass me by. 

But this isn't about stopping to smell the roses, or seizing the moments. This is about understanding how something as simple as paying attention can make such a profound difference to the way I inhabit this world. 

In each moment of being mindful, I feel as if life is giving me another chance to live again, and each time more skillfully, more wisely. 

With all that I have experienced and been taught about being alive, I would like to share these insights with you. As a Mindfulness Coach, I look forward to supporting your health and wellbeing in this way.

niàn Learning Ecosystem

The Chinese character 念, or niàn (pronounced "nee-ann"),  is made up of the characters 今 (now or present), and 心 (heart or mind).

​niàn can therefore be interpreted as a practice of keeping our heart and mind in the present.

A life with
niàn is one that is
  1. initiated with thoughtful intention
  2. lived with mindful awareness
  3. approached with skillfulness and wisdom

Our mindfulness coaching follows the niàn learning ecosystem developed by Erin Lee, which is an integration of six essential components that support you in cultivating a mindful life.

How You Are Coached:

Coaching sessions may be conducted online or in-person at an agreed venue. Erin is currently based in Singapore.
(A)   8 INITIAL SESSIONS
  • Initial commitment of 8 weekly sessions, at 1-1.5 hours per session, to be completed within 3 months.
  • The consistency and intensity of these initial sessions support you in effectively learning the skills of mindfulness and more successfully integrating mindfulness into your daily life.
(B)   ONGOING SESSIONS
  • After completing the initial 8 sessions, you may choose to continue your coaching on a weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly basis, based on an assessment of your learning needs and progress.
  • ​Ongoing sessions are highly recommended to help you sustain your mindfulness practice. 

What Happens in a Coaching Session?

Each session typically consists of:
  • Mindfulness practices in both stillness and movement, and in various postures
  • Inquiry and discussions about practice experiences
  • Reflective and contemplative exercises
  • Recommended home practice*, including mindfulness practices and journaling
  • *Coachee's commitment to home practice is essential for effectiveness of coaching and learning.

How Do You Know if This is Working?

Based on our "Learn as You Live, and Live as You Learn" approach, the effectiveness of the coaching sessions should shine through in the way you are living from day to day. With consistent practice, it is not uncommon to witness these changes over time:
  • Your sleep quality improves
  • You are eating better
  • ​You are physically more active
  • ​Your body feels more nourished and energized
  • ​Your mind enjoys more moments of peace
  • You approach difficult moments more calmly
  • ​You recover from stress more quickly
  • ​You make decisions with greater clarity
  • ​Your relationships improve​
  • ​You find greater joy and meaning in your life
